The Alley

View on the Pragda STREAM site

Set in a small town in northern Sonora, Mexico, The Alley examines themes of love, identity, and emotional liminality through the experiences of Andrea, a woman awaiting word of her long‑absent husband. Her life is disrupted when Paul, a U.S. country singer, arrives and their forbidden romance rekindles Andrea’s creative passion for photography and self‑discovery. Against the breathtaking Sonoran landscapes, the film navigates moral ambiguity, emotional exile, and second chances, ultimately forcing Andrea to confront her past and make a transformational choice.

Director Carolina Duarte adopts a visually rich, character‑driven narrative to explore gender, rural conditionds, and the interplay between personal desire and social obligation—making it a compelling case study for scholars of Latin American cinema, gender studies, and regional identity in film.
